Attendance: Richard Torkar Daniel Sundmark Emelie Engström Lars-Ola Damm Per R Thomas T Arts Monday Feb 22, 10am Agenda * (Robert, Richard) BTH course starts during summer school. Then MdH spring/summer 2011, LTH winter/spring 2011/2012 * (Richard) Set week (three days) for summer school. Invite Prof. Briand ? 8-10 Sept? * (Robert) Next glue course occasion is during the summer school. Plan is also to get some students to summarize their project/lic at testzonen.se during 2010 * (Richard) Traveling (Wasif, London. Robert, ICST. Richard, ICSE, ICST, New Zealand? Others?) Inflow, LTH, Kassurinnen -> Finland, Anneliese -> vid BTH. Vinnova har inte förståelse för hur vi inom SE arbetar. Adnan -> ICST, Daniel -> , Daniel -> Med också * (Richard & Robert) To Beijing (Robert's setting up things with Chinese Academy of Science) 22-29 April. Dejan, Wasif, Ali, Thelin and Richard? - Robert: We have a go from CAS. They will fix visa invitation this week so if more people are coming I need to know no later than March 1. - Robert: Barry Boehm will also be here in late March and I will present SWELL at joint workshop at CAS. Thomas: cannot make it, invite speaker at conference in that week. * (Richard) Förlängd dispositionsrätt -> Richard will have lunch with Martin (Vinnova) 5th of March. Our intention should be to postpone the decision until final moment. Vinnova info on financial rules. (% to nod responsible?) - meeting March 5 with Martin. Doktorander som nodansvariga? * (Richard) Budget. Skall antas? Text describing Markus' topic area: Managing enormous quantities of requirements and test information in natural language requires massive manual resources during development. Iterative development cycles and product-line approaches stress the information management systems and procedures to the limits. Techniques from the Information Retrieval (IR) domain have been applied to some specific problems in software engineering. The intention is to develop these techniques for large-scale test to requirements linking and evaluate them in a large-scale context. - Robert: I vote FOR making Marcus a SWELL PhD. He is close to existing research I'm doing (with Ericsson/Karlskrona). Would be interesting to collab. - Daniel (Stefan är sjuk på MdH), inga tillägg FOR. - Arts: Enligt Markus antagen! * (Robert) Hur ska vi definera "excellence"? Konceptet elitforskarskola bör utvecklas och defineras explicit - Not clear if this is really Robert's issue. Fairly strange question from Vinnova since they used the concept themselves from the start. Obvisous definition is to benchmark with the top groups in terms of requirements on PhD theses and company collab. Hard to make textual description of this, it is more of a comparative effort imho. Arts: Explicita krav är svåra men vi bör titta på det. In particular, show what we do and why this is excellent. Thelin: Ta inte för allvarligt på detta. Richard: Tittar vidare på detta. * Other business: - ICST metrics 4 av 50 från SWELL (Per) - Mobility! Alla doktorander måste ut på mobilitet! Vinnova trycker på (Richard) Thomas: can we see mobility as "our students go and visit each others companies"? Richard: Bra ide! Alla: Se till att ni har koll på _all_ mobilitet så vi kan använda det i nästa steg (ansökan)! - Alla doktorander ska ta kurser som SWELL erbjuder (påtvingas enligt Vinnova) (Richard) - Presentations to put up on SWELL's site? (Richard) - Framtida finansiering. Olika typer av involvement från företagen. (Robert) - No progress since last time. More of a decision issue, what do we propose and the board decide for future financing? Maybe not a pressing matter if we get more money from Vinnova? Robert, ge ett tydligt föreslag - Anneliese Andrews from Denver Uni booked for March 4, 13.00, at BTH (EASE theme will be there also hopefully)! (Richard) http://www.informatik.uni-trier.de/~ley/db/indices/a-tree/a/Andrews:Anneliese_Amschler.html * How do we get more students to our summerschool and courses (not only SWELL students, and even they don't all come) Richard: Fokus på industri en dag under sommarskolan! * RF: On testzonen I had a brief discussion with people and one guy chipped in that having short and to-the-point/focused courses will likely help attract industry people. I propose one-day variant of SWELL courses and then additional media/web material available for industry people who want to go deeper. See previous bullet and add to summer school! APs * All: Summer school 8-10 Sept. Richard checks with Briand. One of these three days should have industry focus so that people from industry might be tempted to participate. - Richard: Check with other uni if there are some students in CS/SE that might be interested to attend the summer school! - The industry day at the sumemr school should be complemented with more online reading material (according to Robert's testzone suggestion) * Students: Glue course: Will take place 8-10 Sept. or maybe the 7th depending on the schedule. We will ask the students to beforehand summerize their projects/theses for other people to read, and send it to testzonen. * All: travel more! Send students abroad! Also, _all_ mobility should be recorded at each partner (inflow, outflow _and_ industry participation) - this must be sent to Richard when he writes up the next application. We will push this hard in the application. * SWELL finances Daniel's trip to ICST also. This means that a lot of people will attend ICST! * All: All people wanting to go to China need to tell Robert no later than March 1 so that CAS can fix invitation letters! Wasif, Dejan, Ali, Richard are OK. Thelin hopefully too. The trip is 22-29/4 * All: Robert will be at a workshop with Boehm at CAS in March and will push SWELL there. * All: Richard will meet Vinnova March 5. After that he'll brief you all via e-mail about financial issues, allowing phd students to get paid x% as node repsonsibles and when we should ask for "förlängd dispositionsrätt". * Arts: Send invoice to BTh for course costs. * All: Markus Borg, LTH, has been approved by the board to join SWELL. * Richard: Excellence definitions. Richard will have a look at this. See how we measure and compare towards, mostly, Simula. Richard will write up some text for the application, in this regard. Having some explicit reqs always looks good -> e.g. industry connection. Thelin mentioned that we shouldn't take this all too seriously... ;) * All: Whenever you have a presentation that we can put on SWELL's site -> send to Richard! * Robert: Future financing. The board recommends that Robert gives a proposal for a two-level involvement that companies can choose between when joinign SWELL. It must cost them financially and in time (so they take responsibility). We want active companies, not hang-arounds! * All: Anneliese Andrews from Denver Uni booked for March 4, 13.00, at BTH (EASE theme will be there also hopefully)! http://www.informatik.uni-trier.de/~ley/db/indices/a-tree/a/Andrews:Anneliese_Amschler.html * All: When you read a good paper on V&V, write a paragraph summarizing it and send it to Richard!
